Dance Mom I Am Not

Mother's day weekend, Grace preformed in her first ballet recital. We were instructed to put our ballerina's hair in either a bun or a high pony tail. A dance mom I am not, so I was only able to achieve the pony tail.

When I arrived at the auditorium, someone asked if I needed a donut.  Dance mom I am not, I assume I was being offered a delicious pastry...

Apparently, in the world of 'dance moms' a donut does not mean a sugary delight.  Grace and I were both disappointed.  A donut is what a dance mom would use to create the perfect bun.

Apparently, my mom was not a dance mom either.

So, in the end, dance mom or not, my little girl was transformed into a beautiful ballerina...

And this mom beamed on with pure pride.

    1. Thanks so much Carrie. She may look like a ballerina, and though I am super proud of her, she didn't do much dancing in her recital. She just stood on stage and waved...maybe she thought it was a Ms. America toddler version :)

  8. Aww--so cute! I remember that my mom had one of those donuts when I was little (for her, not for me--apparently she wasn't a dance-mom either). But I was fascinated by that little doo-dad. I would sneak into her bathroom just to play with it.

  9. Could she be any cuter!! I remember our daughters first dance recital in the sweet balerina costume. Last year's costume was a pink sequined hip hop one, I miss the tutus and hair in a bun!!! Such a sweet wonderful time! Glad you all had fun. I love the picture of you dancing too. Just great, thanks!

  10. That is so cute! I wouldn't have known what a donut was too. Where do you get those donuts? I was planning on getting Suraya's hair done professionally for her uncle's wedding, but just maybe I can do it myself with a donut... er um... or maybe not! I can see myself not manage how to use a donut;P

  14. Oh Amy! Grace is such a stunning little ballerina - you must have enjoyed her recital so much! I would have no clue as to how to make a bun with that 'donut' thingy - then again, I am a hockey mom and the only thing I had to learn how to do was tie skates and tape the end of a hockey stick! Ha! Thanks for sharing these pics!
