What better cupcake to serve at a circus party than a carousel cupcake.
There are so many baking blogs I follow that will be
incredibly disappointed to learn my cupcakes were made from a box.
There, I've
said it.
I've never claimed to be a baker. Believe me, I am sure my
guests were happy I didn't attempt to make these from scratch :)
Here is how you can make these 'semi-homemade' carousel cupcakes.
Supplies needed:
Animal Crackers {perhaps you don't need the industrial sized tub of animal crackers}
Cupcakes {feel free to show me up and make your cupcakes from scratch}
Icing
Cocktail umbrellas
To decorate:
Ice the cupcakes. Arrange 3 animal crackers upright around the perimeter of the cupcake. Add a cocktail umbrella to the middle.
Isn't everything better with a cocktail umbrella?
Be warned: If you make the mistake of inviting some rambunctious neighbor boys over, to enjoy a carousel cupcake, make sure they don't use the cocktail umbrellas as weapons :)

Well how cute and easy is that?! They look darling all stacked up on that tiered stand too! Is there anything boys won't use as a weapon??!!
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely adorable!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love them.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Cocktail umbrellas make everything better. Well, almost everything. They clearly don't make little boys better ... they turn them into evil cocktail umbrella sword wielding terrors!
ReplyDeleteLove the cupcakes ...
:)

Adorable idea! It's two treats in one... animal crackers and cupcakes. I don't know any kid that doesn't like cupcakes and animal crackers.. so no doubt they were a big hit!
ReplyDeleteI almost made homemade cupcakes because of you...but in the end, I went with from a box. I don't know how you have the time and patience to bake from scratch :)
DeleteDarling! What a fun simple idea! Wonder if my soom to be 9 year old would still think that was cute??!!
ReplyDeleteSoooo adorable.. and who says they have to be homemade... they look stinking awesome!!!! and I have to tell you I smile and giggle everytime you mention those rotten little boys next door and I think of their lazy father! HAHAHAHAHAHA! I can just picture that whole scene.. and I crack up!!! I'm so bad!!! Love ya though! *giggles*

Perfection! I made a carousel cake a few years ago. Same concept but with a bunt cake. I like the cupcakes better, though!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute. They'd look great with those little animal crackers that are frosted pink & white with the little colored sprinkles on them too(might actually be called carousel cookies if I remember correctly)!

No question...those would totally be weapons over here. It would take prior planning and quick confiscation to avoid that happening!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, Amy!
So cute Amy! And no shame in a box mix.. I do it all the time! Its just your base. Look how awesome your box cupcakes came out? So awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a friend throwing a circus party for her son next month...I HAVE to share this with her...so cute, yet so simple! Perfect!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely brilliant! Those are so stinking cute! : )

I made some homemade cupcakes last week and they weren't any better than the box mix I usually make. So from now on it's the easy route for me. Yours are too cute with the animal carousel. Thanks for sharing at Terrific Tuesdays.
