The Library Ladder Challenge

Installing a library ladder seems straightforward enough, after all, this isn't our first home improvement project.

You order the supplies...

You install those supplies

You clean up the mess your husband leaves behind from installing those supplies.

You admire the beautifully restored ladder that is about to be installed.

Life is good until you realize there is one thing you didn't take into consideration.

Besides for the obvious, that this very tall and beautiful ladder needed to be cut down, to fit into our pantry {which will be revealed behind that French door soon enough}

What could we possibly failed to have considered?

Give me your best guess.

  1. Hmmm...that it would now become a fantastic climbing toy for Grace? :) Wynn would be obsessed with it. It's just beautiful, Amy. I can't wait to see it. :) Megan

  2. Hmm... I'm stumped. Does it have wheels installed on the bottom?

  3. I'm stumped too. Could it be how to get it into the pantry... is there not enough space to maneuver it in? I can't wait to see the end result... I would love to have a pantry that needs a ladder. How cool is that!

  7. I don't know...but I love it! When we went to finish our last houses unfinished basement, and tried to fit the sheetrock down the stairs...it didn't fit! Poor planning by the builder! We brought them in to show them, and they suggested cutting a hole in our newly finished foyer floor! My poor husband hsd to cut them to get them down the stairs, which resulted in a lot of unexpected seam work! Fingers crossed it is nothing major!

  8. I haven't read the other comments, but . . . hmmmm . . . stability? Wheels at the bottom? Now I'm dying with anticipation!

Also, can I just say how much I have always desperately wanted one of those?? You are my super classy hero.

Wait. Is it that you can't wear heels while climbing on it??

  9. That is such a cool ladder. Is it that there isn't enough floor room for the ladder to sit and lean?

    Can't wait to find out.

  11. I would have said wheels, can't wait to find out what it is. Or the space in the pantry where it comes out at the bottom? I have no clue really. Still loving the ladder so I hope it's not too much hassle to fix.

  12. I want one of those ladders in my kitchen someday - in my designed-by-me house someday. Yeah - someday!
The things I think of are how to get it through the door? Does it take up too much floor space? Hopefully it is something you can fix?!!

  13. Oh man I need one of these one day, for about every room in my house!! Cuz at 5 feet tall (and 1/4" but everyone says that makes no difference...) I NEED these ladders! Anywho, I need to ask some specifics, cuz my dad wants to convert my old bedroom to a library and have a ladder like this... not sure that it'll really ever happen, but yeah. Where did you get your ladder exactly? And those wheels, were they hard to find? Can't wait to see the final reveal!

  14. Does it have anything to do with the angel the ladder will be after you cut it down to size?
