Watercolor Silhouette Art

Grab your little artist and get ready to make some watercolor silhouettes art pieces.
You can make a silhouette of your first home.

Or even your child's profile.

To make watercolor silhouettes of your own, gather the following supplies:  white cardstock, watercolors, a shadowbox and...

an artist to create the masterpiece.

When the finished masterpiece is fully dry, prep it to create your silhouettes.  Print out a picture of either your house, your child's profile or even your pet.  Precisely cut the outline of your shape of choice.  Lay the shape onto the watercolor painting, trace it and then cut the shape out.

Consider some embellishments to add interest and preserve more memories to go along with your watercolor silhouette.  For the silhouette of a child, consider having them write out their name, their age or do a hand print.

Embellishments for the house silhouette could be scrabble tiles that spell out HOME, adding your street address or displaying your house key.

Arrange your silhouette, and any embellishments you want to add along with it, into your shadow box.

Then, find a place to proudly display it and admire.

Watercolor silhouettes are a perfect way to turn your child's artwork into a meaningful piece of art you can add to any home decor.

Happy painting!

  1. I love this idea Amy! It's a modern take on the basic black silhouette. For someone like me who loves colour this is perfect. I'll definitely be trying this.

  13. Amy - I absolutely love both of these ideas. The home one would be so cute for a house warming present. I love that you added the key. And the silhouette is just beautiful. Such a creative idea my friend.
