I guess, as far as retail goes, it might be too late, especially since most stores already have their Christmas decorations out.
The past few years, I've made Grace's Halloween costume. When talking homemade, it's never too early to start thinking about Halloween costumes.
Last year, Grace wanted to be a pig.
Believe it or not, I took a monkey costume and transformed it into a pig costume (including a curly piggy tail).
The year before, Grace was a sheep.
My favorite costume, though, the one that convinced me to continue to make homemade Halloween costumes, was the Martha Stewart inspired chicken costume.
A costume I am almost tempted to make in adult size.
This year...well, this year we've only just begun thinking about what she wants to be. At the moment it is ranging from Alice (of Alice in Wonderland) to Robin (as in Batman and Robin). Thank goodness for pinterest.
Regardless of what she decides, I have a feeling I will need to channel my inner Tim Gunn and (hopefully) make it work, whatever she decides.
Have you started thinking about costumes, yet?
I can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeleteYou can be both :). Wish me luck!
DeleteNope never too early! I've been thinking about Suraya's costume for months. I've loved every costume you've made for Grace and I can't wait to see what you come up for this Halloween. Suraya and I finally have an idea of what she'll be this year... thanks to Pinterest inspiration!
ReplyDeleteAlthough we do not do Halloween we do still buy costumes and have a FALL party. BUT if I could sew like you lady I would make costumes all year long!
ReplyDeleteThe costumes you have made in the past are precious!! I can't wait to see what you make this year for that sweet girl.
I really look forward to seeing what you make. I am sure it will be impressive. I ran witch by Grace and she quickly declined :)
ReplyDeleteStar Wars! That is what my boys always wanted to be, someone from Star Wars. :
ReplyDeleteWhen Sam was one years old, I made him a scarecrow costume and I went as a big scarecrow. :-)
I am excited to see what develops from While Wearing Heels for trick or treat fun.
I can't wait to see the boys' costumes!
DeleteI think we're going to dress up as a family, Star Wars-style. I think we'll have one Lea, one Hans, and one Padmay (no idea). My baby will probably be a princess...and not princess Lea. Love that chicken costume!! to clever.
ReplyDeleteI love your costumes and can't wait to see what you do, I am however happy that we don't do it here, coming up with 7 costumes every year sounds like a night mare :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a little sad that she doesn't want to be an animal again, they are all so cute!
Such cute costumes! Would love to see that chicken one on you! :)
ReplyDeleteWe're totally going the Pinterest route! Lucy and her best buddy want to be American Girl dolls (in the box). The other mom and I met today for a little costume pow-wow. :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do for Grace! (But I'll be a little sad if she's not another cute animal!)
Oh, I can't wait to see what you come up with for Lucy. I might have to use your idea a few years from now :)
DeleteWow! You are so talented. My mom used to make all my costumes and I loved it. I still remember most of them.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your costume creations, they are all adorable! Your sewing skills are enviable and I can't wait to see what two decide. (I kind of hope it's Alice in Wonderland...Grace would be the perfect Alice.)
ReplyDeleteSome of my most fun memories was deciding to be a witch..... again..... for Halloween. In fact, I'm thinking of being one this year now that I really am getting old and ugly!
ReplyDeleteOkay- that chicken costume is AWESOME! I love it! I want one!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what this year will bring. We are probably going to be hopelessly unimaginative and probably rob the dress-up bin for our costumes. How cheap am I!?!?
They all look so professional!!!! Great job! J, now 3, actually fit into a tiger costume that we bought when was 1!! Haha. He said he wanted to wear it this year :)
ReplyDeleteI cant wait either!! cor wanted to be a halo guy. I was gonna try and spray paint or dye a start wars costume but then broke down and bought it. when he said "oh momma, this would be the bestest Halloween ever if I was a halo guy" when we were looking at the costumes online. its on its way along with the $15 gun to make that our 101th toy gun - but THIS was THE rip gun, momma, lol!!
