Halloween Costumes

Is it too early to start thinking about Halloween costumes?

I guess, as far as retail goes, it might be too late, especially since most stores already have their Christmas decorations out.

The past few years, I've made Grace's Halloween costume.  When talking homemade, it's never too early to start thinking about Halloween costumes.

Last year, Grace wanted to be a pig.

Believe it or not, I took a monkey costume and transformed it into a pig costume (including a curly piggy tail).

The year before, Grace was a sheep.

Bah, bah black sheep have you any candy?

My favorite costume, though, the one that convinced me to continue to make homemade Halloween costumes, was the Martha Stewart inspired chicken costume.

A costume I am almost tempted to make in adult size.

This year...well, this year we've only just begun thinking about what she wants to be.  At the moment it is ranging from Alice (of Alice in Wonderland) to Robin (as in Batman and Robin). Thank goodness for pinterest.

Regardless of what she decides, I have a feeling I will need to channel my inner Tim Gunn and (hopefully) make it work, whatever she decides.

Have you started thinking about costumes, yet?

  2. Nope never too early! I've been thinking about Suraya's costume for months. I've loved every costume you've made for Grace and I can't wait to see what you come up for this Halloween. Suraya and I finally have an idea of what she'll be this year... thanks to Pinterest inspiration!

  5. Star Wars! That is what my boys always wanted to be, someone from Star Wars. :
When Sam was one years old, I made him a scarecrow costume and I went as a big scarecrow. :-)
I am excited to see what develops from While Wearing Heels for trick or treat fun.

  6. I think we're going to dress up as a family, Star Wars-style. I think we'll have one Lea, one Hans, and one Padmay (no idea). My baby will probably be a princess...and not princess Lea. Love that chicken costume!! to clever.

  7. I love your costumes and can't wait to see what you do, I am however happy that we don't do it here, coming up with 7 costumes every year sounds like a night mare :)

I'm a little sad that she doesn't want to be an animal again, they are all so cute!

  13. Okay- that chicken costume is AWESOME! I love it! I want one!

I can't wait to see what this year will bring. We are probably going to be hopelessly unimaginative and probably rob the dress-up bin for our costumes. How cheap am I!?!?
