Summer Busy Bags

It's summer!

As much as I am looking forward to long summer days with Grace, I know how easy it can be to get stuck in a rut.  This summer, I decided to be proactive and ambitious.

Cue busy bags.  Busy bags, will hopefully get us through summer without too many mentions of being bored.

To make my busy bags, I scoured pinterest for crafts I thought Grace would enjoy and I threw in some fun learning activities as well (just cause it's summer doesn't mean that we can't continue learning, right?).

In addition to 'pinning' my finds, I printed out a picture of each activity (including directions for anything that required it).

Then, I gathered the supplies needed...

and I put them into baggies.

I've filled a cardboard box with dozens of new to Grace activities and crafts.

Bring it on summer.  I'm ready for you!

  3. Hi,
I try to do something similar. It really does help.
And you are right, they continue to learn in the summer. :-)
I had my boys do a math page every other day too. Just to keep up with math facts or we would do flash cards.

  4. You are super organized! I LOVE IT!!!! So many times I'm at a loss for what to do because I do not have any supplies in the house. I also love that you put your Pins to use. Mine just stay on-screen :). Hope you two have lots of fun this summer, and of course Gracie can still learn. I am always trying to teach my son something, whether he knows it or not ;).

    1. What a great idea Heather. Yes, road trips would be another great use for busy bags. I'm thinking of preparing a few for winter break and snow days.

    1. It's easy when you only have one to organize for the summer. And, it's strictly selfish, since I want to make sure I keep her entertained and busy.
