I am the first to admit, the idea of stamping with fruit or vegetables is not a new concept. My mom claims that when I was in school, I actually made these as well. And, let me tell you, that was LONG before pinterest and blogs.
Though the idea isn't original, it still is fun and...
for this little girl it is still an original idea.
So we stamped with the rind of celery...
A lemon...
And an apple. My personal favorite because we glued the apple seeds onto our apple prints.
When we were done stamping, we used our scraps and fixed a snack.
Ants on a log, another idea that has been around longer than pinterest that continues to be a novelty for each new generation introduced to them.
I've only seen the apple idea - I love how the others look too!
ReplyDeleteI remember doing this in primary school, long long before Pinterest! It's so cute seeing the little ones discover all those things we did as kids. In spite of how tech savvy they become nothing beats painting and play dough.
ReplyDeleteTotally loved making these as a kid! I love to carve potato stamps too. I made some pear stamps last year and made Anniversary cards out of them (you're a great "pair")... should totally do this with my kids soon!
ReplyDeleteI totally did this too with celery last year! Loved it! :)
ReplyDeleteAwe she's so cute :) I love the print that the celery makes.. like pretty flowers :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun - she is so cute Amy! Isn't it great how our kids think everything is a NEW idea since it's is new to them! I remember telling my Mom jokes and stories thinking I had something brandnew and then finding out she had told the same jokes and stories as a kid!
ReplyDeletethe artwork is great - you should definitely frame at least the apples - they are all worthy of going on the wall somewhere.
Yes I've heard of fruit and veggie stamps, but as I was reading I realized as a mother of six, not once did I ever stamp with either. And now I feel really deprived, I don't recall stamping with them as a kid either.
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
potatoes sre great too...you can cut out any shape/design with a knife!
ReplyDeleteThis week is "apple week" in Lucy's class. They're studying Johnny Appleseed, making crockpot applesauce, etc. I think when she comes home I'll have her do some apple stamping. She'll love it! Thanks for the idea. Grace's pictures are fabulous and suitable for framing...
ReplyDeleteEverything old is new again! Thanks for the memories! And....cutest pigtails...ever!
ReplyDeleteI love stamping with fruit/vegetables! I must admit though that the lemon one is a new idea for me...I haven't seen that one before and I'm loving it!. Last school year for teachers' appreciation week I had Suraya stamp apples on totes for her teachers. She enjoyed it as well:D
ReplyDeleteHi Amy,
ReplyDeleteThe timing of seeing your post is funny because I was just thinking of making potato stamps last night. I've never done the celery or the fruit but love the "flowers" the celery makes. What old-fashioned fun! Thanks for sharing:) Di
She's a little beauty! Fun stuff with the babe!
ReplyDeleteI want to come stamp on your beautifully sunny front porch...pretty please!?! Those are beautiful prints! Would be great framed in a kitchen!
ReplyDeleteLove it! How much fun was that art project to do!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Such ordinary veggies and such gorgeous pics!! Love it, espcially the lemon and celery. Beautiful!
