Party Punch Box

What is a punch box you might be asking yourself.  Don't worry, I had no idea until I saw it being pinned and featured everywhere I turned.

The woman that made this latest trend go viral, Elena from 'a Casarella, has pinatas all over the world crying, 'don't forget about me'.

A punch box holds all sorts of prizes inside and the only way to get them out, punch through the holes.  How much fun is that?

Can you guess what I used to make my own version of this punch box?

TURANO boxes from Aldi.  They were sturdy, easy to cut and FREE!

'A Casarella has an amazing tutorial on how to make one.  There is no use to reinvent the wheel, so go and check her post out for all the details.  And, make one for your next party!

DIY Silhouette

Ok, so I have succumb to the silhouette craze. I've been seeing it every where so I figured, why not give it a try.

My muse...

I pulled Riley's picture into my Silhouette program, traced her out and had my Silhouette do the rest of the work for me {you could do this in Photoshop OR print your image out on paper, cut it out and then trace it on black paper}. I decided I liked the look of the reverse silhouette, so I kept her outline.

This was the hardest part. I am a book lover by nature. Though I have succumb to the silhouette craze, I have not fallen into the Kindle or Nook craze. So, when I decided to use a dictionary page for Riley's body, I had to fight through everything in my nature to actually cut a page out of a book.

Any guesses what page I used?

And there it is proudly on display with her first dog collar and Marley and Me {which if you've read any of my previous Riley posts, you'll understand how fitting that is}.

Chalkboard Contact Paper Labels

If you haven't already heard enough about chalkboard contact paper after my Scribbles Welcomed Post, here's some more chalkboard contact paper love...

Today, I cut out some labels, the middle one, I cut out by hand, the others, I cut out using my Silhouette.

Ok, I admit, I don't actually need these labels. One could clearly tell what is inside any of these containers BUT don't they make them look so much cuter?

Should I be embarrassed that I still have candy hearts in a jar? Wait...don't answer that :)

All You Need Is Love - Silhouette Style

I realize not everyone decorates for Valentine's Day. I obviously do. For me, trying to survive the cold {sometimes dark} days of winter, I look forward to brightening up my house with some Valentine's Day decorations. I also like being reminded that:

So I dug out a few pages of colorful card stock and my silhouette to cut out some cheerful letters.

I taped my bright, colorful letters to some fishing line...

and then hung up my Valentine's Day garland.

No matter how you look at it, neither can be argued.
All you need is love. Love is all you need.

Initial Shirt

One of my favorite gifts Grace received for her birthday was an initial shirt from Red Balloon Company.

This past weekend, we were invited to a 3rd birthday party and I wanted to give an initial shirt as a gift BUT it comes with a steep price tag {for a tee shirt}.

I thought, maybe I could use Red Balloon's initial shirt as inspiration for my own design. So I bought a $6 shirt from Target.

Cue my Silhouette and their smooth heat transfer material. I created a design using 2 circles and inside of the circles, using the font Curlz MT, an L. I sent it through my Silhouette and removed the excess heat transfer material, leaving only the design I wanted to transfer.

Then, using an iron, I applied my design to the tee shirt. It may not be the official initial tee shirt but I think mine is just as cute {for a fraction of the cost}.

Having saved some money on my version of the initial tee shirt, I was also able to give a My Little Pony set {realizing a 3 year old won't care about clothes}. All that was left to do was wrap it, decorate it with a few 3s for good measure and deliver it.
