While hunting through Goodwill yesterday, I stumbled upon this very tarnished candy dish.
I have no silver to speak of so the idea of possibly collecting a few pieces seemed like a romantic notion. For $3.99, I decided to buy it.
I came home and search Pinterest for some tips on cleaning silver, hoping to find one that didn't require investing in special cleaner. I came across a tip from Little Blue Boo that called for baking soda, aluminum foil and hot water. There is an excellent step by step tutorial on her blog.
After soaking it for a few minutes, I could already tell a HUGE difference. I did need to use a little elbow grease as well...did you see how tarnished it was to begin with. In the end, I was amazed at the transformation. Can you believe the difference?
I love the little roses.
Now, I just need to decide what to do with it.
I just might end up having a very impressive collection of silver one day. Of course, I'll only pay a few dollars a piece for them, thank goodness for Goodwill!
