This summer, in preparation for kindergarten (which starts in exactly 2 week, I realize while holding back tears), Grace has been practicing letter recognition and penmanship by writing letters.
Grace decides who she wants to write to and what she wants to say, while I dictate the spelling.
In this case, she decided she wanted to write to Riley.
It's been interesting to see how her penmanship has evolved throughout the summer and how her personality comes across in what she wants to say and how she signs her name.
Some days we struggle with who we should write to but when something like this arrives in the mail...
Grace has no doubts who she'll write to and what she needs to say.
So sweet! I guess daddy couldn't resist :)
ReplyDeleteOh how precious is this. Hugs Marty
ReplyDeleteBy the end of Kindergarten my oldest was leaving notes for around the house. Those are definitely something to keep hold of. :) I'd take her to Disney with that letter.
ReplyDeleteThese are so cute and make me miss those days. Now all our kids are young adults and teens. All I get now are texts which are usually requests for a rides (from our non-drivers), or food or money. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteYou too? I love to remind them of how sweet they once were. Guilt can do wonders.
DeleteI miss those days. I even teared up while reading this post. Those years seem to fly by in the wink of an eye. I still have all of my kids' letters that they wrote. Now, at 13 and 15, I'm lucky if they do something nice for us. I'm thinking maybe I will go through the box of their letters and frame a couple--to remind me that they were once my darlings--and maybe to remind them that they love us. Enjoy these years while you have them!
ReplyDeleteSo stinkin' cute! This is precious... ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Heather. I've really enjoyed seeing how she's changed this summer in what she's wanted to write and also how she writes it.
Deletethat's awesome! luv the heart - so her! and if y'all have never taken her to Disney on ice - you must and make it a tradition. my parents started with the first grandchild. it used to be only once a year but now its a couple times a year but still they only go once a year and ALL the grandkids luv it! Cor has been going since he was 2. even the grown grandkids still go. they go and eat james coney island first, then Disney and they can have one souvenir and one snow cone, and talk about it for months. parents are not allowed to attend even for lunch. its really awesome.
ReplyDeleteoh! I luv the new header!
ReplyDeleteHaaa!! That's so awesome.

So adorable. I love that she wanted to write to Riley! And I hope Daddy takes her to Disney on Ice. What fun. I love the new header.
ReplyDeleteAmy, those hearts are too stinkin cute! Kindergarten is a wonderful time...You will be in awe of Grace and all of her accomplishments this coming year!
ReplyDeletePaula, your comment just made my eyes well up with tears. I am going to be such an emotional wreck on her first day of school (after she walks in the door, of course). Sigh.
DeleteI'm so sorry...Hopefully they were happy tears! Our 1st day of Kinder was only 2 years ago, but now seems so long ago. And the tears were ever present with me too. Three weeks marks the start of second grade and I couldn't be more excited for the new adventures in store for my son! I wish the same for you and Grace as well!!
DeleteLol so cute, how could Daddy resist such a beautifully written and polite request
ReplyDeleteI knew as soon as I saw the title to this post I would be crying. I'm sure daddy won't be able to resist that!
ReplyDeleteI have some of the girls "manuscript" papers saved. They grow up so fast. I think the youngest daughter stayed home more than she went to kindergarten...she cried as much as I did at drop off time every morning. Yes, I said Every Morning! But then she grew up, and she moved out and didn't cry near as much as me.

PS. Love the new header and buttons:) Great job!
here school started last week...yes, last week. Fortunately, I am homeschooling, so my oldest will start kindergarten in a couple of weeks :) Hold on to those papers
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! Those letters are keepers. And that pic of Riley is pretty cute. Did Riley get her pony picture?
ReplyDeleteHow sweet is she? (And that's some pretty great penmanship for Pre-K!)
ReplyDeleteI went to the Ice Capades in Seattle many moons ago when I was Grace's age. She'll always remember it.
ReplyDeleteBliss
Oh that is darling......
ReplyDeleteHa Ha, I love that photo of Riley.
ReplyDeleteSo sweet...the heart...so sweet! Great idea for her to practice her penmanship.
So sweet! And her penmanship is amazing! It makes me thin, "Crap! Should I be doing more with Lila!"
ReplyDeleteWhat's funny is that Lila has been asking to go to Disney On Ice for ages too! I just need to find a show that's somewhat close to us!
How very precious! Jacob is into making maps lately. I have maps for everything!
ReplyDeleteShe is just the cutest! ;)
ReplyDeleteI am so behind on blog reading. ACK!
ReplyDeleteThis was precious though, and that Riley. Love that pup!
