The Big Christmas Card Reveal

Our Christmas card, this year, started in a traditional fashion.  Little girl, dressed in her best Christmas dress, standing in front of a decorated Christmas tree, with her dog by her side.

Thanks to Capture the Magic, I was able to add a Santa into our card.

The only thing missing, a clever quote to go along with the scene.  "You saw Mommy kissing no one...got it."  Playing off the well known song, I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.

So...From my family to yours, Happy Holidays!  Enjoy spending time and making memories with your friends and family.

Also wishing you a safe and very happy new years.

Until next year.

Many blessings to all of you.

Bunny Favor Bags

Beside for cake, a birthday party is not complete without goodie bags.

What kind of goodie bags do you need for a bunny birthday party?  Bunny party favor bags, of course.

To make your own, gather the following supplies:  brown paper lunch bags, glue stick, bunny silhouettes {cut out of black cardstock} and white pom poms.

These are so easy to make, you could even put your little one to work making them.

Glue the bunny silhouette onto the front of the paper bag.  Then glue the white pom pom onto the 'tail' of the bunny silhouette.

The only thing left to do...fill them.

Each of our guests went home with one of the following a homemade cotton ball bunny tail, bunny ears and a bunny shaped silly straw.

Thank goodness we had our bunny theme picked out early, we were able to take advantage of after Easter sales!

Make sure to hop back to see more party details unfold throughout the week.
Make sure you hop over and check out the rest of Grace's bunny themed birthday party.

Magical Birthdays (repost)

This repost has nothing to do with my creativity or party planning skills, this one is all Mr. While Wearing Heels :)

I may or may not had mentioned to my husband that my birthday, which was December 12th, needed to be magical.  It was a once in a lifetime kind of birthday, after all, 12-12-12.  I was partially joking AND I originally had no intention of doing a 'birthday' post BUT...

Magically {and blog worthy} is exactly what he delivered.

Throughout the day, I stumbled upon groupings, hidden around our house, that contained 12 items and a funny note.

12 gold coins.

12 Barbies.

12 pink paper clips.

12 pink lizards.

12 rubber ducks.

12 erasers.

12 ninjas.

And 12 tiaras with a note that read:  Your Prince shall come (at 12:12 today) to take you to the ball.

My prince did arrive at 12:12 to take me to the ball...aka Grace's winter ballet recital.

And, in every sense of the word, my birthday truly did feel magical.

And, this man, I am certain is happy that once in a lifetime birthdays truly do only come once in a lifetime.

Though, 12-12-13 sounds kind of magical too.  Don't you agree?

*Don't forget to come back on Friday and share your favorite party posts!

Art Birthday Party - Repost

In honor of Grace's 5th birthday(!), this week I'll be sharing my favorite birthday posts.  On Friday, I'll give you a chance to link up your own favorite party post(s).

Without further ado, I present to you, Grace's 3rd birthday party (again).

Color, paint and play as we celebrate Grace's 3rd birthday. Arts and crafts was the theme of the party from start to finish. If you are interested in the details, keep reading...

Since the party was a crafting themed party, I focused mainly on our crafting center.

To cover the table, I used 2 rolls of packaging paper, from the dollar store. At each seat, I attempted to draw a frame.

Instead of recycling my cans, for a month, I kept them figuring they would make perfect containers for crayons and paint brushes. The table had an assortment of washable (these are 3 and 4 year olds after all) paint, water colors and crayons.

At Hobby Lobby I was able to find wooden wands for $1 that the girls painted and $2 wooden trains, with wheels that actually moved, for the boys to paint.

Every artist needs a gallery. I found a simple and AMAZING tutorial here that walks you through the process of converting pictures into coloring book pages. I made one for each artist but definitely had a favorite or two. Thanks Photojojo for walking me through the process!

Party favors are my favorite part of any party. I had so much fun figuring out what our little crafters would take home with them. Fortunately, crafting runs in the family, my mom made all the personalized aprons out of the most adorable crayon material.

I spelled each guest's name out of crayons, you can see the tutorial here, and used that as not only a party favor but their gift tag. I also sent them home with 2 extra copies of their coloring book page.

Having focused so much time and energy on the crafting table, our decorations were kept simple (if you read between the lines this translates into 'I ran out of time'). 3s, balloons and tissue paper poms decorated the house and outside, though, it was so hot that by the time the party started most of our balloons popped. We also left out a jar for people to leave birthday wishes for the birthday girl. I love anything that has an element of memory keeping, which is probably why I have over 5,000 pictures of Grace and she's only 3.

Yes, we had one of those parties with a photo booth area.

The frame was suspended using heavy gaged fishing line. Eyelet hooks were added to the ceiling of our porch and back of the picture frame. The fishing line was strung between both the hooks on the ceiling and the hooks in the frame. It did take time to get the frame level and hung straight. If you don't have the time to hang a frame, we also took some pictures holding the picture frame.

Hung or held, the pictures taken using the frame were among my favorites. I can see why this is such a popular trend right now.

The theme of the party started with the painter's palette invitations.

Continuing that theme and inspired by the painter's palette cupcake tray I saw here. Using a jig saw and a piece of scrap wood, we were able to create our own version.

For the cupcakes, I started with white store bought icing and added a few drops of food coloring to mimic different shades of paint.

All in all, I would say the party was a success. Memories were made. Great pictures were taken. Most importantly, the kids all had fun.

Wait until you see what we've come up with for her 5th!

Valentine's Day Cards for the Love Sick

The only thing better than candy, in our house, is Band-aids.  SO when it came time to decide what kind of Valentine's Grace would give out, taking into consideration all the food allergies and sugar adverse moms from her preschool class, Band-Aids seemed like a fun alternative to candy.

The only challenge, was deciding on what kind of card she would give out along with her Band-Aids.  Thank goodness for PicMonkey because I was able to create my own.

The only thing left to do, pick out some Band-Aids...

and have the *doctor* sign her prescriptions.

Valentine day cards that are perfect for the love sick...

or Band-Aid lover in your life.

Christmas Cards of the Past

If you hadn't already noticed, I like to interject a bit of humor and levity in my life and my posts.

My Christmas cards are no exception.

The first year we sent out Christmas cards we went with the naughty and nice theme.

Ironically, it was easier to take pictures of naughty, with the bribe of a treat.  Nice was a bit of a challenge.

The next year, the pressure was on to try and top our naughty and nice card.

We gave naughty the year off and went with some career humor:

Grace holding a letter written to Santa with a thought bubble that says:

'And if I don't get everything on my list, my lawyer will be in touch with your lawyer about a little legal issue we call breach of contract.'

Grace even had her lawyer {her daddy} on retainer.

I thought it was funny but people were disappointed Riley didn't make the picture.

So, back by popular demand, the next year included Grace and Riley.   This time, both models were bribed with treats...Santa's treats.  Grace happily ate Santa's cookies and Riley happily lapped up Santa's milk {peanut butter filled cup}.

Last year, I couldn't think of anything witty so we went with a simple message about believing...

and made sure to include Riley.

This year, we tried to bring the funny back and left Riley out...

But, I'll have to leave you in some suspense...at least, until I mail this year's card out.
