While on vacation..

After Grace's bunny birthday extravaganza, we escaped to Wisconsin.

Although, we didn't stay here.

This sweet little play cabin, which was made by my dad, belongs to Grace and her two cousins.  Daily tea parties were enjoyed here.

Part of what I love about going to Wisconsin is that I have access to the Queen of Quilts, who helps me figure out projects like how to make a child's apron, which I will happily show you how to make (tutorial to follow...eventually).

The Queen of Quilts also taught me the basics of crochet and I began a crocheted baby blanket using a tutorial from Modern Grace.

It must have looked like fun because Grace insisted on crocheting her own blanket.  Of course, her attention span only allowed her to make a tiny scarf for her Barbie.

And, I was able to visit my embroidered USA quilt, which is next on The Queen of Quilts' long arm, waiting to be quilted.

Some other projects from the weekend included, a simple, no sew(!) kite shaped hair bow holder I had pinned from Ruffles and Stuff over a year ago.

I finished another ABC sampler.  Though, to be fair, I only had 7 letters that needed to be completed.

AND, I finally drew up another Matryoshka doll.  I've only just begun to embroider her, since we return from Wisconsin.

Of course the week was filled with more than just craft projects.

We took daily boat rides, enjoying feeling the wind in our hair...er, I mean ears.

Proud moments were experienced as I happily watched my sweet little girl catching fish (8 in total), with her grandpa, using hot dogs as bait because she didn't want to hurt any worms.

And, I was reminded, that life truly is made of the little moments.

I Survived 5

It's official.  Grace turned 5.

We celebrated.  (Don't worry, you'll get your post party invitation in a few days.)

And, then came the aftermath of the celebration.

The mess.

After completing nearly everything on my list, for the big celebration...

I was exhausted.  When all was said and done, this momma decided to celebrate that I survived.

And, then we decided we needed to escape.

So, we packed up and went to Wisconsin...for an entire week.

The entire family escaped for the adventure.

And, now we are home.

Did you miss me?  Because I missed you!

Frame Personalized Postcard Souvenirs

 First run on Bonbon Break.

Whether your summer travel plans involve a trip across country or a night out in the city, be sure to buy a stack of postcards.

And, while you fill out postcards to your family and friends, why not write one to yourself as well.  Write out the highlights from your trip, the things that made you laugh.  Include the moments you want to capture and remember.

Put a stamp on your postcard and drop it in the mail.  Until we meet again.  Bon voyage little postcard.

Your 'back to normal life' self {the one suffering from post vacation blues}, will appreciate getting something in the mail other than the bills from your latest adventure.

That's exactly what I did when I was on my honeymoon with my husband 6 years ago.  Our postcard included some highlights and some misadventures but more so a sense of who we were while on our honeymoon.  This postcard brings back happy memories.  Memories which may have otherwise faded over time.

Then, instead of tucking your postcard away in a photo album or a box, proudly display it.  Frame your handwritten postcard alone OR include the front side of another postcard from your vacation or use a favorite picture from your trip.

Those memories, the ones that may have faded, are now preserved and showcased.  The trip or adventure may be over but that doesn't mean the memories have to be as well.

*For those curious and or with bad eyes, the honeymoon postcard read:

The adventure of a lifetime.  The breathtaking views.  Staying in an over water bungalow in Moorea.  The barn with twin beds, barking dogs and roosters in Bora Bora.  Swimming with sharks and stingrays.  An off road trip, in a jeep, leading to a picture perfect view.  Our final night in an upgraded bungalow.  The only thing better....spending it as husband and wife.  The adventure is only just beginning.
