First run on Bonbon Break.
Whether your summer travel plans involve a trip across country or a night out in the city, be sure to buy a stack of postcards.
And, while you fill out postcards to your family and friends, why not write one to yourself as well. Write out the highlights from your trip, the things that made you laugh. Include the moments you want to capture and remember.
Put a stamp on your postcard and drop it in the mail. Until we meet again. Bon voyage little postcard.
Then, instead of tucking your postcard away in a photo album or a box, proudly display it. Frame your handwritten postcard alone OR include the front side of another postcard from your vacation or use a favorite picture from your trip.
Those memories, the ones that may have faded, are now preserved and showcased. The trip or adventure may be over but that doesn't mean the memories have to be as well.
*For those curious and or with bad eyes, the honeymoon postcard read:
The adventure of a lifetime. The breathtaking views. Staying in an over water bungalow in Moorea. The barn with twin beds, barking dogs and roosters in Bora Bora. Swimming with sharks and stingrays. An off road trip, in a jeep, leading to a picture perfect view. Our final night in an upgraded bungalow. The only thing better....spending it as husband and wife. The adventure is only just beginning.

Amy - I just love this idea! I should have read all the way to the bottom first. I was completely zoomed in on my screen trying to read your honeymoon card, ha! I'm so jealous that you went to Bora Bora. There's a hotel there that has a tiny little wedding chapel that's over the water with a glass floor. I'm hoping for our 10 or 25 year wedding anniversary we can go there to renew our vows. P.S. Love that frame in your first picture. Did you make it?
ReplyDeleteI remember when I first saw this and thinking what a great idea it was and I was going to do it when I took my next trip! Still haven't taken that trip! I need to go somewhere!! It's still a great idea!
ReplyDeleteA postcard for yourself. I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I love postcards but I never thought to send one to myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks Erin. Next trip, make sure you do!!!
DeleteLove the idea! I haven't ever considered mailing myself - what a great idea! I can also see how this can change when the kids get old enough to write their thoughts down (and when they're old enough for us to consider taking them somewhere that isn't a campsite).
ReplyDeleteI adore your frame. You made it, of course? Man... I need to get myself better acquainted with our power tools.
This is such a 'nifty' idea...I'm hoping to use it next time lol if we ever go anywhere.

What a great idea to write yourself a post card and then frame it along side another card or a favorite photo. Gosh, so many memories just stuck in a box, drawer, or on the computer. Let's get started to display them and enjoy them!!! Beautiful message you wrote to yourself. Great reminder of what "new love" feels like after you've been married for x number of years.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Amy! That should would bring a smile to my face during the work week after I was back from vacation. :) Love it!
ReplyDeleteLove the idea and sentiment. And what a great postcard from your honeymoon.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful idea. I really love this Amy. I wish I had done something like this when Jules and I were on our honeymoon. This is really lovely, I will do it with the kids and have them do it too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a brilliant idea to perserve happy memories and special moments. And of course a wonderful keepsake not just for you but your children too.
ReplyDeleteI have some old ones I sent off to my parents when I was a kid and they shipped me off for a summer to stay on my aunts farm. I should get out that little box of memories and see what is in there I might want to frame. These are cute.
ReplyDeleteBliss
I absolutely the colors of your frame and this idea! Awesome, thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHow sweet. Thank you so much for your lovely comment.
DeleteI love this idea even more this time around!!! Though, I must admit, seeing that gorgeous weather and turquoise water has me iching for spring!!! (we got covered in over 6 inches of snow again here in MN!!!) The frame is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome idea! I love the simplicity of it but it makes such a impact because of the memories associated with the card.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of sending myself a postcard! I always buy one when I'm on vacation to add to my collection of places I've been, I'd never have thought to write and mail it to my back to normal self though! And the frame is so much prettier than just tacking them up around the ceiling.
ReplyDeleteCheers!

love this idea + that frame! our guest added wedding wishes to vintage postcards and i still have no clue as to what to do with them...way too many for a frame. i'll have to remember this idea for our first anniversary.
ReplyDeleteOh this is just one of your absolute best Amy! I love this and will definitely look for some old postcards in my old pictures...I bet I have something that would really work!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Di
OMG Amy! This is such an amazing idea. I'm not going on vacation ever again without doing this. I absolutely love this! Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. Great way to keep those memories alive. Love the frame. Did you do the shabby wood grain look of the frame? If so do you have a tutorial? Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLinda @ Mixed Kreations
Thanks so much Linda. I wish I could take credit for that gorgeous frame but we bought it while on our honeymoon.
DeleteTruly a great idea. I often think back to the days mu mother and grandmother sent me postcards from their vacations. I think with the electronic age this is often thought of as outdated, and forgotten. I try to carry out this tradition to family members when ever possible. Thanks for the new ideas on old memories!
