Decoupage Vase

Spring is FINALLY in the air.  Daffodils are blooming and vases are waiting to be filled.  Plain glass vases.  Plain glass vases that can easily be transformed from drab to fab.

Want to transform your own drab vase to a fab vase?

Gather the following supplies:  a glass vase, decorative paper {I purchased mine from JoAnn Fabric}, scissors, paint brush, Mod Podge and flowers.

Start by trimming the paper down to an appropriate size for the vase. 

Spray the back of the paper with Easy Tack Adhesive to help secure it into place.  *I learned this the hard way.

When your paper is securely in place, apply at least 2 coats of Mod Podge over the decorative paper.

Patiently wait for the Mod Podge to dry.

Then, fill your vase with some beautiful flowers and admire.

And...this vase and those beautiful daffodils really do make me happy 'just because'. 

Ikea Table Makeover

 

Grace has one of those plain white Ikea tables which has suited our purposes for crafting and the occasional tea party but lacked a bit of character.

I decided to overcome my fear of Mod Podge, when I came across this pretty pink and green floral paper, from Dick Blick, in hopes that it would give our boring white table a bit of character and charm.

Do you have a boring table of your own and want to learn how to make it over?  Gather the following supplies.

First, you'll apply a thin EVEN layer of Mod Podge to the clean table top.  Slowly put the paper in place, over the coat of Mod Podge you applied.  Press it down firmly and flatly.

Then wait {hence the requirement patience and time}.

Once fully dry, apply a layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper to seal the paper.

Then wait.

Once fully dry, apply another layer of Mod Podge over the top of the paper.

Then wait.

When fully dry, throw a tea party.

Or allow the creative juices to flow and do some crafting.

If only all makeovers simply required a little Mod Podge :)

 

Timeless Clock Tutorial

It could be the location of your first date, your wedding, your honeymoon or where your child was born, let those memories remain 'timeless' forever.

First you need a clock.  Mine came from Goodwill {shocking, I know}.  It had great shape and weight and was begging for an updated look. For $6.99, I decided she had to be mine.

Give your clock a pep talk, preparing her for what's to come.  You do not want to 'tick' her off.

Carefully take your clock apart.  You'll need to raid your tool box for things like a wrench and screwdriver.

Do you remember the Vintage World Maps Calendar I got for half off the beginning of the year?  I decided to use one of those maps.  I traced the clock front to the size I needed and cut it out.

Sorry for the lack of pictures for the next few steps.  You'll want to cut out a circle in the center, for the clock hands to fit back into.  Replace the clock front with your map and seal it with Mod Podge or you could even glue it into place.

Take it a step further and add a bead or a pin to the exact location you want to remain timeless.

Put your clock back together and enjoy.

No matter how much time has passed, cherish all your memories.
