Happy 2013

Happy 2013!

After my whirlwind of Christmas posts, I enjoyed a nearly computer free holiday with friends and family.  Though, if you follow me on pinterest, you'll see that's where my *nearly* computer free holiday ended.   I spent our travel time, and there was plenty of travel time, this holiday season, pinning away.

In addition to celebrating and pinning...

I read a book!  I used to be an avid reader...before blogging.  Gone Girl was an excellent recommendation that reminded me how much I love getting lost in a good book.

I made one last ornament, for my nephew, who is intrigued by Jupiter.  However, being on a blogging hiatus, I failed to take a finished picture of Jupiter, in ornament form.

I made rice crispy treats.  What makes this note worthy?  Well, I had never made rice crispy treats before.  I used a cake batter and sprinkle recipe from pinterest.

I finally got around to make a Land of Nod inspired floor cushion

 for Grace.

And, a blogging hiatus isn't complete without a furniture transformation, right?

I finally tried out Annie Sloan chalk paint.

Not only did the paint cover all the nicks and scratches but it brought this piece to life, showcasing its beauty in a whole new way.

My blogging hiatus is now over and it's the start of a new year.

Here is to 2013!  May you find new ways to showcase your beauty and your talent in creative new ways.

*And I'll be sharing my blogging year in review via facebook today.

  6. Okay, so during your blog hiatus you tried new recipes, sewed furniture, painted furniture, made an ornament & read a book (which was one of my faves of 2012, BTW). I, on the other hand, called it a win if I got out of my pajamas.

You, my friend, are an inspiration!

Happy New Year. In 2013 I resolve to be more like you!! :)

  11. Love your updates Amy! Love the poof! Love the white paint job on that gorgeous furniture piece! Where do you paint when it gets chilly? It seems WAY too cold here to even set foot outside on some days! Looking forward to spring when I can poly my kitchen table - which nobody is allowed to touch underneath the protective cloth :) Happy New Year friend!!!

  15. Even with a blogging hiatus you've still been keeping yourself busy! The cabinet piece looks amazing... I've been wanting to get my hands busy with some Amy Sloan paint... just need something to use it on. Love the floor cushion... it's been on my to do list too! I adore the fabric you used! I'm still on my blogging hiatus... currently traveling outside the country but I've been frequently checking back to see what you've been up to:) Gone Girl was one of the books I was considering on reading on the plane... I will have to definitely check it out now that you have highly recommended it:) Looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us in 2013!! Happy New Year!!
