Roadside Rescue

Last weekend, my husband rescued these chairs and ottoman from the side of the road.

Look at proud he is of his treasures.

Which I have to admit, have a ton of potential.

They also need a lot of work, like new cushions and one of the seats needs to be replaced.

But I can still see their potential.

And...

I find this entire thing a little ironic since just a few months ago, I rescued a $3.99 chair from Goodwill, to which my husband responded, 'oh, you bought a chair'.

A chair that also had a ton of potential.

I have a feeling someone is going to want some help uncovering the potential in his chairs.

Ironic.

We've now come full circle.

  10. These look like some very good quality Mid Century Modern chairs. I would be looking to see how much I could get for them before I even touched them, these things are really popular & someone may want them just as they are (not painted).
Chuckling at the husband. Does he not know how addictive thrifting is?? LOL

    1. i agree definitely check them out before any work to them. it may decrease their value significantly. we watch a show called, "Picked Off" and the stool looks very similiar to one that was appraised at $800 as is.

  12. I think he is going through his junk conversion.... the equivalent to the change of life that happens to a junkers spouse. He's coming over to the light and leaving the dark side behind.

  13. Girl I have a question> did he come to you this way or HAVE YOU ENDOCTRINATED HIM..did he actually "know what he was getting" or was he just lucky?
Decorators on HGTV often dive and search for pieces like this for their projects.
    Waaaaaaaay to Hubby of yours!

  15. You've trained him well, got any tips?! I think I need to train myself first, and get a vehicle, seems so hard to get cheap thrifted furniture without a car. And since you brought your other chair up, did you decide to sell it or keep it in the end?

  19. too funny....It looks like hubby has a really great eye, so you'll probably get all kinds of wonderful things from his thrifting. Your makeover chair turned out beautifully. I bought two Thrift Store chairs a few years ago, but have been way too intimidated to recover because of all the lines and angels. I know I'd never get that right. Instead, I've thrown slipcovers over them. Which, by the way, Ms. Ramsay wrote her name on....I know, the walls, the furniture, someone lock up the markers!
