I'm back.

I'm back.

This past week, I felt very pensive.

Not only did I have the blogging blues...

I also had the first day of preschool blues.

I took a much needed break from blogging...

 I enjoyed being quiet...

I enjoyed being present in the firsts of last week.

 Like Grace's first hair cut.

And her first day of preschool.  Which she confidentially approached and immediately loved.

Which I, on the other hand, did not feel as confident about.  I instead felt sad, watching the first in many milestones Grace would be experiencing without me.

So, I made myself some chocolate chip cookies.  The best chocolate chips cookies I have ever made.  And I, shamelessly, ate them for lunch 2 days in a row.

And, I made a few more trips to Goodwill, for some retail therapy.

I finally got around to planting a few succulents.

I also finished another Daisychain ABC Crewelwork Sampler.  If anyone is counting, this is the third one I have made.

And, I contemplated the direction of my blog.

I had received my first unproductive comment on my facebook page, two weeks ago.  As a result, I questioned whether or not to continue blogging.

Where I wavered about what I would do, contemplating calling it quits, I received supportive and sweet emails encouraging me to continue.

So, as my week off concluded, I realized...

I will continue to blog, while wearing heels...because it makes me happy.

  1. Beautiful pics Amy. While you were eating cookies for lunch, I was eating cupckes as my "baby" went off (confidentally, which made me proud, but also made it harder) to preschool. And let me be the first to tell you Im glad you will continue to write from your big heart.

  2. HEY!! Happy you are back! I checked in a time or two just to make sure I wasn't missing out - my email notifications have been known to get lost in cyberspace :(
So sorry about the comment - those are no fun. Amazing how one bad comment can be such a huge downer but it's the truth. I've had some of those - don't like them. Delete and move on - though I know that is easier said than done.
But I'm glad you are going to keep blogging!

  3. Whew!

    We dodged a bullet there.

Now don't do that again. You scared me. (Actually, you go ahead and take a break whenever you need it, just don't go quitting ;)

The picture of Grace holding the sign upside down is precious. Definitely a keeper.

And I made cookies for Maddy's first day of middle school. Great minds... ;)

  4. I AM SO GLAD YOU'RE BACK. PLEASE, NEVER LEAVE ME AGAIN.

I totally understand the 'unhelpful' comments. In my estimation though, you only get those when you're doing something right... people make mean comments out of jealousy.

Also, if you tell me who they were, I'll beat them up after gym class. :)

  5. Missed you this week.... Glad Grace likes school. The milestones can be hard but each stage brings YOU new adventures, too! Try to ignore toxic people. You are a fresh, amazing face in bloggy world and have so much to offer and receive! Xoxox. Erin

  6. Awww, Amy, I didn't realize that's what had you down and taking a break! But sometimes it's a good thing to take a break anyway, I'm glad you are sticking around! I love the way you write your posts with a comedic twist, it makes you so unique in my eyes, there is only 1 Amy - While Wearing Heels :)
I hadn't realized you were on Facebook, so I went ahead and added you just now. I also searched for that mean comment but didn't find it... I'm still waiting for my first really mean comment, or well any type of mean comment really (maybe the word verification stopped them? thanks again for pointing that out to me!!), I'm ready (I think...); I am going to send whoever it is a picture of a super cute puppy lol
I apparently, have comments galore on this post! Your girls' hair must grow uber slow for it to be her first hair cut!!
I guess there's a reason why whatever you bought at Goddwill is still in the bag and we can't see it?!?! (yet? right?)
LOVE the new button!!!! Ok I'm done now ;)

  9. Amy, I missed you this week too! Don't worry about the negative comment... you have tons of friends who DO support you and love reading what you have to share so focus on that! :) This is your blog so write what makes YOU happy. I actually had major blogging blues too this past week. Hehe maybe there's something in the air. ;) I took a break too and realize it's totally ok if that's what I need. My family/peace of mind is so much more important and I'm glad that you got to enjoy your time with your sweet daughter. (I'm dreading the day when it's my little guy's turn...) Hope you're supplied with much grace this week! =)

  13. That's so great that Grace likes her school.. That can be so stressful for the parents if their children are scared :) So glad to hear you're back up and running. Have an excellent day!!

  14. Hey Amy... I'm giving a virtual hug right now:) First of all, I'm so happy to see you back... every day since your last post I've been visiting hoping to see a new post. Since meeting you, your blog has become one of my daily routines so it felt odd not having you around. You are an amazing and talented crafter and blogger, and I always look forward to see what you have been up to and to some good laughs:) So you better not go anywhere!! Don't ever let one comment or even ten take you down. Just keep going and enjoy your blog... and don't deprive us;P

First day of school is always difficult on mommies... but soon you will enjoy that time to yourself... I promise:)

Chocolate chip cookies are always the way to go when you need to feel up again... I should know;) Look what I found at the Gunny Sack: http://www.thegunnysack.com/2011/06/mid-week-munchies-chocolate-chip-cookie.html . That's going to be my go to from now on for those down days... join me anytime you would like! :P

You keep doing what you are doing because you are rocking it!

  15. Wow...I'm glad you're keeping on keepin on! I'm really sorry someone made you doubt yourself. Don't let em do that again. You are awesome, remember? You're an awesome mom too.....Grace is a confident little girl because you helped her be that way of course!
I quite a facebook group because of a nasty, obviously unhappy blogger, who said some ugly stuff. But, there are some other great groups out there who have great admins. Check out Adriannes's from Happy Hour Projects, if you haven't already.

  17. If people have nothing positive to say, they should just keep quiet! I know how you feel...

  19. Amy, we all have those "blues", I'm so happy you're back and at it!

  20. Cookies for lunch=a girl after my own heart. I know how easy it is to dwell on the negative; as a teacher of bizarre adolescents, I have to make a decision every day to focus on the positive. I am glad you decided to stick with it. :)

  21. Aww Amy I hope you are here to stay. Not only do you come up with some of the coolest projects, that are done so well I might add, you're also always so super supportive of others. I for one appreciate your blog and the sweet comments you leave.

  22. I just love the pictures of the wee one going off to school. Don't worry, I am sure you are not the first, last or only parent that ever consoled themselves with cookies in the week they let go of their babies.
As for the unsupportive comment, I say just blog for yourself & the people who enjoy what you do, remember, you can't please all of the people. Quite frankly, it would be exhausting if you were to try!!
    Blog on!

  23. I have never used the word Pensive.
    You cut the princesses hair?!?!
    Blogging makes your butt big.
Eating chocolate chip cookies for lunch makes your blogging butt bigger.
    To helll with negative comments.

  24. Dearest Amy,
I read all of the comments before mine and realized you must have lots and lots of beautiful comments for every one nasty comment. Try to remember how a great comment makes you feel:)
You are one of my very few avid followers and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for that. I have several posts with only one comment: from you! I'm so grateful to you for that.
Stick with it girl, all the love is worth it:)
Virtual hugs, your biggest admirer, Di

  25. I'm glad you're back. I loved this post. I received my first nasty comment a few weeks ago, too. It really hurt my feelings, and it was on a post that I was very proud of. I don't understand why people do that, but I do know that it's not nice, and what they say is usually not true! Hard as it is, please just delete it, forget it, and move on. (That's not what I did, but it's what I'm going to do if there is ever--and I hope there isn't--a next time!)

    Your preschool pics are adorable.

  26. Those child milestones are tough on us moms! It looks like you were productive with your time, and I'm glad to hear that you're continuing with your wonderful blog!

    Go get 'em Grace!

    Big Hug to you friend.

  28. I'm glad you're back! Nothing like some chocolate chip cookies and retail therapy to help see you thru! From one blogger to another...keep with it, especially if it makes you happy and provides you with some fulfillment and joy. I'm so glad our paths crossed as you have helped me in more ways than one. You have been a huge support, given me some great advice, and more than anything its been a pleasure getting to know you. Just remember... For every negative comment, there are ten more supporting you! (including me)

  29. How lovely that you are back. sometimes we just need these times to re-think where we are going, and why we are going there... and a break can be so refreshing! there are so many people out there who love your blog (me included :-) ), don't worry about the occasional ugly (jealous!) comment.
    big hug to you

  30. I'm so glad you decided to continue! I've been having bloggy blues all summer long. I've been a bit distant, but hovering around the edges. So I've decided to invest some of my hard earned pillow-making money into a new design. I'm hoping it'll reignite my passion. Though, I was a bit too passionate so maybe I'm just finding some balance ...

    :)

P.S. I received a FB comment from a person who so desperately wanted to "Unlike" my FB page but couldn't figure out how so she left me a comment asking me how to unlike me! Ouch!

  31. I love your blog. It makes me smile. Don't let those negative comments get you down. We all get them and that's when you need to remember these great words from Dr. Seuss: "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind." Keep on keepin' on! :)
