This is Me - JUNE Self Portrait Link Party

The self portrait 'task' for June was to take either a new self portrait or an old one and add an inspiring quote to your photograph.

Last month, the theme was 'Me Time'.

Some told a sweet story.

Reading with the Girls - Suburble
Tara from Suburble

Some made me laugh.

Mel from Mellywood's Mansion

And some, they made me wish their me time was my me time.

Let's get this party started...here are our linky rules:
  • There will be a link up here on the last Friday of every month this year, and the linky tool will remain open to your submissions until the last Friday of the next month.
  • Please link back to the permalink for your *This Is ME* blog post or flickr image, not just the general url for your blog or flickr stream.
  • Linked entries must be to a blog post or flickr image of your recent self-portraits, not just any old photo. Your photo does not have to relate to the optional monthly theme, but it does need to be a self-portrait.
  • Please do link back here to my blog either through a text link, or with my button found below to help encourage others to participate and grow our community.
  • And most importantly, be the encouragement you hope to receive and help build our self-portrait community! Please try to visit a few of the links of your fellow *This Is ME* participants and leave a nice comment--it only takes a few minutes and you may be inspired by what you see.
Well, that's it...now get linking everyone! I'll see you back here on Friday, July 5th, for our July theme announcement, but in the meantime, keep showing us your stuff in the flickr pool.

This is Me - May Theme Reveal

While Wearing Heels

The (optional) self-portrait theme for May is brought to you by Lisa from Wine and Glue.

The theme for the month of May:  Me Time.  Me Time is what do you do to make time for yourself.  Often time, as women, we neglect to take time for ourselves.  The list of people that need us seems never ending.

When we take time for ourselves, we become better moms, women and people.

So, what is your 'me time'.

It could be checking blog stats and catching up on the latest episode of Smash (as Lisa is demonstrating).

Is it reading?

Taking pictures?

Whatever it is, capture it in a self portrait and share your story.

The theme 'Me Time' was provided for inspiration but the theme is optionalAll self portraits are welcome.  Feel free to use one of our previous themes (simple moments, reflections, looking down) or come up with a new theme of your own.

The LOVE April linky party is still open, so if you want to post a link you still have time.  If you haven't already, please go check out the brave women that joined the challenge to show them your support and encouragement.

Don't forget, non bloggers can share their self portrait pictures in the flickr pool.

I'll see you at the end of the month, Friday, May 31st, to see your latest self portraits.

Looking Down - March Self Portrait Challenge

This is me.

Occasionally you'll find me in heels.

Occasionally, you'll find me barefoot.

Ok, more than occasionally, you'll find me barefoot.

All of the time, though, I am a mom.

A mom who can't believe how fast her little girl is growing up.

A mom that wants to get in front of the camera more.  A mom that wants to make sure Grace has a lot of pictures of a mom that loves her with all of her heart every day.

I can't wait to see how beautiful all of your looking down self portraits turned out.

Remember to come back on Friday and link them up.

This is Me - March Theme Reveal

While Wearing Heels

The (optional) self-portrait theme for March is...looking down.

Take a literal or abstract approach to the theme.  It can be either your view of looking down or the camera's view, where ever you should position it, of looking down.

Whatever you do, have fun doing it and preserve those memories.

The theme 'Looking Down' was provided for inspiration but the theme is optionalAll self portraits are welcome.

The Reflections February linky party is still open, so if you want to post a link you still have time.  If you haven't already, please go check out the brave women that joined the challenge to show them your support and encouragement.

Don't forget, non bloggers can share their self portrait pictures in the flickr pool.

This is me - My Reflection

Continuing my quest to try and get more comfortable with how I look in pictures, this month, I worked on some reflection self portraits.

Here are a few of my reflection self portraits and some words of wisdom.

Butterflies don't know the color of their wings, but the human eye knows how beautiful it is.

Likewise, you may not know how good you are but others can see that you are special.

Even if you aren't happy with how you think you look in pictures, there is someone looking at them, thinking they are beautiful.

I can't wait to see how beautiful all of your reflection self portraits turned out.

Remember to come back tomorrow and link them up.

This is ME

I have a confession to make.  I hate having my picture taken.

I look over every picture of myself with a very critical eye.  It always seems to me, the person looking back at me in any picture, doesn't seem to match the person I see in the mirror, so all too often, any picture of me gets deleted.

I have become quite skilled at avoiding being photographed.

Lately, I've come to realize, the images I am deleting are images, one day Grace might want to look back on.

In an attempt to embrace who I am and encourage others to do the same thing, I am issuing a challenge.  Join me in stepping in front of the camera.  Join me in trying to see who you are in an artistic way.  Join me in saying:  This is ME.

While Wearing Heels

The rules are simple, you or a part of you must be in the photo, and you must have clicked that shutter yourself--with a timer, a cable release, wireless remote, however you do it as long as you do it yourself!

Each month there will be a theme to help inspire you.  The theme is optional, though, all self portraits are welcome.

The theme this month is 'Simple Moments'.  My simple moment, reading with Grace.

The last Friday of every month, there will be a link party you can join.  Linked entries must be to a blog post or flickr image {so non-bloggers can join as well} of your recent self-portraits. Your photo does not have to relate to the optional monthly theme, but it does need to be a self-portrait.

A self portrait is a picture that is 1. taken by you and 2. has part of you in the picture, it can be your face, your hands, your toe, as long as you are in the picture in some form it counts as a self portrait.

So, get in front of the camera, get inspired and see yourself in a new light.
